Project Lighting

Timecoded lighting for Downend Fireworks

A fully programmed lighting show, synchronised to the music and fireworks by timecode, for Bristol's biggest annual firework display.

The brief

Add a fully programmed lighting display to the fireworks, pre-programmed to the soundtrack and triggered live from the firework controller.

Downend firework display is Bristol’s biggest annual firework display, and the Round Table committee are always looking for ways to raise the bar. Skyburst Fireworks approached us to work with them on a fully programmed lighting display to accompany the fireworks, with everything pre-programmed to the music.

How we did it

We were issued the music and visuals a month in advance and programmed a full lighting show in Capture, which meant we could demonstrate to the client exactly what they would get before the night.

On site we deployed 12 Chauvet Rogue outdoor beams for sky-scanning and aerial effects, alongside 36 Q15 LED parcans and eight Spectra floods.

On the night, playback was triggered by the timecode source on the firework controller, with our ChamSys MQ70 launching the cue stacks so the lighting, music and fireworks stayed locked together.

"It was a pleasure to work with you on this event."
