The brief

Provide full production for the return of Proms in the Park after Covid: clear sound over a long listening distance, stage lighting and a 10m x 6m stage for large ensembles.

After the success of the last Proms in the Park before Covid, we were invited back to Speech House to provide full production support for 2022.

The challenge

The site has its own demands. Guests buy tent pitches up to 100m from the stage, so the sound has to carry cleanly over a long distance, and at points more than 20 musicians perform at once. One of the highlights is the joint performance by the RSVP Bhangra Band and Lydbrook Band, bringing together two very different styles of music.

What we delivered

For the long listening distance we supplied a full Martin Audio W8LM package: 12 W8LM, two W8LMD for wide close-proximity coverage, six WS218X subwoofers in a sub array and six LE12J monitors, all driven by Linea Research amplifiers and mixed on an Allen & Heath dLive CTi1500 with a CDM rack at the stage.

Lighting consisted of our LED sunstrips, Chauvet Maverick MK2 washes and hex pars, all on a Stagemobil XXL 10m x 6m stage.

"Thanks team, we look forward to seeing you next time."
