Digital amplifier technology: Linea Research now in stock

We moved our Martin Audio amp racks from heavy analogue amplifiers to Linea Research 48M10 and 44M20 digital amplification: lighter, more powerful and with processing built in.

Linea Research amplifier racks set up beside a stage

New Linea Research power amplifiers are now in stock. We have made the jump from analogue to digital without compromise.

Why we changed

Our amp racks for the Martin Audio W8LM and W8LC systems used to hold four 19kg Yamaha amplifiers each. Powering the W8LM system took two racks; the larger W8LC system took up to ten. That was a lot of weight and van space, and the system still needed external processing.

We needed amplifiers that were lightweight, powerful, reliable and, above all, would make any system sound its best. We narrowed the field on minimum load, processing and channel count, and Linea Research came out on top: stable at 2 ohms, 96kHz processing, advanced control including Linea Phase crossover technology, and four- and eight-channel options in a 2U footprint.

What we bought

The 48M10 provides eight channels of 1,250W at 2, 4 and 8 ohms with full front-panel control. The 44M20 provides four channels of 5,000W at 2 ohms, 3,000W at 4 ohms and 1,500W at 8 ohms. We expect this to be the start of a continuing investment in Linea Research as the business grows.
