New Elumen8 Alu Hex Par 64 LED stage lighting
Twelve six-colour LED pars join the stock: brighter than a 650W halogen par, with amber, white and UV mixing, and a first outing uplighting a Bristol church.
We have taken delivery of twelve Elumen8 Alu Hex Par 64s. On paper they are impressive: 12 x 12W red, green, blue, white, amber and ultraviolet LEDs, 5,600 lux at 2m, industry-standard PowerCon in and out and a more rugged enclosure than most LED pars.
First impressions
We put them straight up against a 650W halogen RGB par can. The Alu Hex Par 64 out-powered the halogen alternative by more than 30%, with stronger colours too.
With amber and white in the mix you can create a natural white light that standard RGB pars struggle with; they tend to look cold, blue or washed out. Adding ultraviolet makes white items glow on its own, and mixed with other colours creates new effects, such as a deep fluorescent blue.
First outing
Their first event was a week’s hire at City Road Baptist Church in Bristol. On round bases they uplit four pillars on each side of the church, with the remaining units as backlight on the stage. The client was amazed at the brightness compared with previous fixtures and delighted with the extra colour control.
